First step in cleaning your jute shoes would be to wait for any mud or dirt to dry first before you begin. If you start scrubbing when it hasn’t completely dried, dirt will sink deeper into the material. For best results, clean them off within 24 hours of when soil occurs and take several attempts.

Steps

1. Take a small bowl and pour a tablespoon of mild detergent; you can use unscented dishwashing liquid, add two cups of water, and stir.
   
2. Dip a clean toothbrush into the solution. Gently use the toothbrush. Don’t scrub too hard because it could cause strands of the jute rope to unravel.

Keep in mind, jute is a vegetable fiber. If you want to keep your jute shoes in perfect condition for a long time, protect them from moisture and humidity.

*As with all products being used on your shoes, always spot check the substance you will be using before applying to the entire shoe just in case you are not happy with how the substance may alter the look of your shoe.
